Lessons I've learnt at 22.

This year I turned 22. 22 isn't as scary as it sounds like. When I turned 21 though, I was freaked out. I felt old and not ready to grow up and be an adult but it passed and 22 came.

I love 22🤗 It's like a subtle twenties age that doesn't remind you of how old you're getting or how immature you still are, according to me. And I've also gotten a few lessons along the way to 22. It hasn't been easy, but it's been a sweet enough ride.

1. If you're passionate about it, marry it. Not really in the literal sense but you know what I mean. Commit to it. Your twenties is when you get to discover what you love doing and if you're lucky enough, you get to do what you love for the rest of your life. Your purpose. Mine is writing, unless I discover another one that's yet to come, and I feel that if I don't follow through with this thing I am passionate about, I might go insane. I'm not ready for that, I'm insane enough. That's why when I haven't written anything in a while, I go into a certain mood that upsets people all around me🤷

2. People will be there for you only if you're there for them. Action and reaction. That's how friendships are maintained. If you want to have friends in your corner at your time of need, you have to ask yourself : was I there for them at their time of need? To what extent? Remember the Golden rule. You don't know the golden rule? Google real quick😂

3. People move at different paces. This is the greatest lesson I'm learning on a daily basis. I had to write it down in my journal to remind myself constantly. I have to remind myself not to compare myself with other people and their successes, their achievements, their plans, their moves, etc. Move at your own pace. Don't let social media posts of your friends having the time of their lives get to you. If you're working towards yours, don't fret. Just keep on doing yours honey.

4. Life is not some perfect thing, the most we can get from it is good enough. As much as we would like things to always go our way, it's never like that. People will disappoint you, things will fall apart, your close friends now will one day become strangers.... I've had my fair share of things going wrong this year and that's just life. I've had a relationship come crashing down, I've been a bad friend, I've had emotional instabilities, I've had my life plans change completely and I wouldn't have made it through without some thick skin. Once in a while lower your expectations and be ready for anything. Don't get too comfortable that you can't adjust to change or hard times when they come along.

That's what I've learnt so far since my 22nd year began and I'll be sure to share more I've learnt and will learn as the year progresses🤗 What lessons have you gotten from 2018 so far? Let me know in the comments😊
